Legendary screenwriter Dalton Trumbo is perhaps best known for Spartacus and Roman Holiday, the latter written under a pseudonym because he had been blacklisted by the House Un-American Activities Committee. This eloquent film, based on the play by his son Christopher Trumbo, brings together some of Hollywood's leading actors, including Joan Allen, Liam Neeson, Donald Sutherland, David Strathairn, and Josh Lucas, to create a complex portrait of the writer in his own pungent words. Emotional and sometimes comic readings of his candid letters,as well as interviews with people who knew him, reveal a man of great wit, courage, and integrity.
