Bringing new meaning to the phrase “Who’s your Daddy?” this short film packs a lot into its twelve minutes. Song of a Sperm Donor pits the right to know against the need to know and nature against nurture as it invites us to get to know a man and his daughter. RR
Trading in a budding medical career for surfing in the 1950s, Dr. Dorian “Doc” Paskowitz has built his own way of life. After a year of surfing in Israel, he returns to the United States with a new goal: to sleep with one hundred women. In the midst of these sexual escapades, he meets his bride-to-be, Juliette. Traveling the continent with nine kids in a 24-foot-long camper, the Paskowitzes lay the foundation of a surfing dynasty. However, after a nomadic, convention-defying upbringing, Doc’s nine children are ill prepared for an adulthood beyond the camper. Told through interviews and incredible archival footage, this surf story is enriched by its exploration of family dynamics and alternative lifestyles. SB
