2007. USA. 83 mins. Directed by Irena Salina. Produced by Steven Starr.

"The world is running out of freshwater." So begins this environmental call to action. In developing countries as well as the most developed, water is either scarce or polluted and possible solutions to the crisis all too often tainted by politics and commerce. Director Irena Salina travels the world unearthing local responses to a global emergency, such as poverty-stricken plumbers reconnecting shantytown water pipes under cover of darkness or a California scientist blowing the whistle on shocking toxicities in the public water supply. After this film's unflinching examination of water politics, pollution, and human rights, the relationship between human beings and water has never seemed more precarious.
