Spring Programming Internships
Durham, NCThe Programming Department is looking for spring interns. Interns should have an interest in film and/or documentary work. Programming Interns will become familiar with the submission and selection processes, obtaining an overall view of how festival content is determined and exhibited.
Responsibilities include:- Publicity Photos and Materials: Interns will be responsible for cataloguing publicity materials for accepted films. This includes organizing photographs that will be included in the Festival Program.
- Garrett Scott Documentary Development Grant Submissions: Interns will be responsible for opening and logging submissions and preparing these materials for shipment to the grant's selection committee.
- Juries: Interns will help prepare materials and send packages to jury members.
- Registration Materials: As the festival approaches, interns will help create and compile filmmaker, special guest and Fellows information packets and organize registration materials.
- Misc: On occasion, interns will be asked to assist in the preparation and proofing of materials for the web and festival collateral. Interns are also expected to help with year-round events as needed. Research projects will be assigned as they arise. Occasional data entry and other administrative tasks.
At the Festival: Interns must work at least 16-20 hours during the Festival (April 12-15, 2012), where they will help at Fellows events and Panels. Interns will receive a Volunteer Pass to the festival, allowing them to attend films and other events when they are not required to work.
Qualifications: Successful applicants will be self-motivated, hard workers with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Attention to detail is important; a good, cooperative attitude is a must.
Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Explorer is essential, experience with Filemaker Pro and Microsoft Access a plus. Must be adept and willing to help with general office tasks (copying, filing, internet research, data entry, etc).
This internship is unpaid. College credit is available.
