NEW DOCS CALL FOR ENTRIES NOW OPEN

Full Frame exhibits nearly 100 documentary films in various categories. By completing the online application, you will be submitting to NEW DOCS, the festival’s competitive program which includes films completed in the last two years. In 2010, 60 films were selected for NEW DOCS from 1200 entries. NEW DOCS are eligible for a number of awards in various categories. The 2010 festival offered 8 awards, with prizes totaling over $50,000 in cash and services. The 2011 festival will take place Thursday, April 14, through Sunday, April 17.

SUBMISSION RULES AND GUIDELINES

I. ELIGIBILITY

DATE OF COMPLETION: Films completed after January 1, 2009 are eligible for Full Frame 2011.

LENGTH: Full Frame distinguishes shorts and features as follows:
Shorts: less than 40 minutes
Features: 40 minutes or more, but no longer than 180 minutes

LANGUAGE: Both preview screeners and exhibition prints must either be in English or have English subtitles.

EXHIBITION FORMATS: If your film is accepted to screen at the festival, Full Frame will only screen the following exhibition formats: 35mm, BetaSP NTSC, Digibeta NTSC and HDCAM 1080i/60i.

PREMIERES: Full Frame does not have specific premiere requirements. However, the Festival does take previous screenings and broadcasts into consideration when making its official selections, especially previous screenings in North Carolina. It is the filmmaker's responsibility to notify Full Frame of any change in premiere status during the submission process.

II. DEADLINES & FEES

REGULAR DEADLINE: October 15 - $40.
LATE DEADLINE: November 30 - $60.

These are both postmark deadlines; entries postmarked after October 15 will be charged the Late Entry Fee. Entry fees are non-refundable.

III. SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

ENTRY FORM + ENTRY FEE: Full Frame has partnered with the online submission service Withoutabox. All entries must be submitted via www.withoutabox.com.

PREVIEW SCREENERS: Full Frame requires THREE (3) DVD screeners. We prefer NTSC (region 0 or 1). If you send PAL screeners, please indicate this clearly on the front of the case AND on each disc.

SCREENER RETURN: If you would like your screeners returned, you must send a stamped, self-addressed mailer. DO NOT send return mailers with metered postage. Preview screeners will be returned in May 2011.

IV. ROUGH CUTS

Full Frame encourages filmmakers to submit final versions of their films whenever possible, but we are willing to consider films that are not yet finished. If you submit a rough cut, we CANNOT guarantee that we will be able to review a newer cut. If you are thinking about submitting a rough cut, please contact us to discuss your options: submissions@fullframefest.org.

Full Frame does not exhibit works-in-progress. Your film must be completed by mid-March in order to be screened at the 2011 Festival.

V. RIGHTS & CLEARANCES

Full Frame expects all applicants to secure music and talent rights to their films for festival exhibition. It is the sole responsibility of the entity submitting the project to secure permission from the copyright holder of the material in question. Full Frame will not be held responsible for any inclusion of uncleared copyrighted materials in your film. In order to submit, you must agree to the Terms of Entry listed at the end of the online application.

VI. NOTIFICATION

The Primary Contact listed on the Entry Form will be notified of the film’s status VIA EMAIL by March 1, 2011. It is the applicant’s responsibility to update Full Frame directly regarding any change to the Primary Contact information. It is also the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that emails from submissions@fullframefest.org will not be blocked by spam filters.
