Full Frame exhibits nearly 100 documentary films in various categories. By completing the online application, you will be submitting to NEW DOCS, the festival's competitive program. In 2011, 66 films were selected for NEW DOCS from 1200 entries. NEW DOCS are eligible for a number of awards in various categories. The 2011 festival offered 9 awards, with prizes totalling over $50,000 in cash and services. The 2012 festival takes place Thursday, April 12, through Sunday, April 15.
SUBMISSION RULES AND GUIDELINES
I. ELIGIBILITY
DATE OF COMPLETION: Films completed after January 1, 2010 are eligible for Full Frame 2012.
LENGTH: Short and feature films are charged the same entry fees. Full Frame distinguishes shorts and features as: Shorts: 1 minute to 40 minutes; Features: 41 minutes to 180 minutes
LANGUAGE: Both preview screeners and exhibition prints must either be in English or have English subtitles.
RIGHTS & CLEARANCES: Full Frame expects all applicants to secure music and talent rights to their films for festival exhibition. It is the sole responsibility of the entity submitting the project to secure permission from the copyright holder of the material in question. Full Frame will not be held responsible for any inclusion of uncleared copyrighted materials in your film. In order to submit, you must agree to the Terms of Entry listed at the end of the online application.
II. TO SUBMIT
ENTRY FORM + ENTRY FEE: Full Frame partners with the online submission service Withoutabox. All entries must be submitted via www.withoutabox.com.
REGULAR DEADLINE: October 15 - $40.
LATE DEADLINE: November 30 - $60.
These are POSTMARK DEADLINES, not received by deadlines. Entries postmarked after October 15 will be charged the Late Entry Fee. Entries postmarked after November 30 may not be considered. Entry fees are non-refundable.
PREVIEW SCREENERS: Full Frame requires THREE (3) DVD preview screeners. NTSC, Region 1 or 0, format is preferred. If submitting PAL screeners, please clearly label “PAL” on each individual case.
III. FINE PRINT & DETAILS
PREMIERES: Full Frame does not have specific premiere requirements. However, the Festival does take previous screenings and broadcasts into consideration when making its official selections, especially previous screenings in North Carolina.
ROUGH CUTS: Full Frame encourages filmmakers to submit final versions of their films whenever possible. If you submit a rough cut, we CANNOT guarantee that we will be able to review a newer cut. If you are thinking about submitting a rough cut, please contact us to discuss your options: submissions@fullframefest.org.
WORKS-IN-PROGRESS: Full Frame does not exhibit works-in-progress at the Festival. Films must be completed by mid-March in order to be screened.
EXHIBITION FORMATS: If accepted, Full Frame will only screen the following exhibition formats: 35mm, BetaSP, Digibeta and HDCAM.
IV. NOTIFICATION
All applicants will be notified of final decisions by March 1, 2012. Notification will be sent by email to the Primary Contact listed on the entry form. Applicants are responsible for updating Full Frame directly regarding any change to the Primary Contact information and ensuring that emails from submissions@fullframefest.org are not blocked by spam filters.
