Sherman’s March
Thematic North Carolina Classics Curated by Tom Rankin
Originally Sherman’s March was conceived as a documentary about the devastating effects of William T. Sherman’s march through the South. However, due to an unexpected turn of events in filmmaker Ross McElwee’s life, the project shifted gears and instead manifested as a documentary about finding true love in the South, along Sherman’s route. Uniquely crafted and outstandingly clever, Sherman’s March is a classic example of Southern personal documentary.
