The Children of Chabannes
NEW DOCS
During the Second World War, 400 Jewish refugee children were saved in the tiny French village of Chabannes. This is the untold story of a remarkable collaboration between teachers and townspeople, Jews and non-Jews who risked their lives and livelihoods to protect these children and give them the semblance of a normal childhood. A tribute to those who chose action over indifference, the film is also a journey of personal discovery for filmmaker Lisa Gossels, whose father Perter and uncle Werner were two of the children of Chabannes.
