Highway
NEW DOCS
A family of circus performers travels across the barren landscape of Central Russia, stopping to perform their extremely seat-of-the-pants act. Then they climb back into their ramshackle bus, which constantly threatens not to start, and go on to the next show. With its long, patient takes and restrained editing style, Highway is observational documentary-making at its best—gorgeously filmed, funny, quirky and despite its exotic subject matter, universal in its exploration of family dynamics. A film for anyone who has ever been trapped in a car on a family vacation!
