David Cronenberg takes on the subject of virtual reality, as it speaks to both the present and the future, and turns it on its head by dispensing with technological gimmicks. Cronenberg’s droll, low-tech movie explores the liberation as well as the terror that VR signifies. With Jennifer Jason Leigh, in one of her best roles, as a star VR game designer, and Jude Law as her unwitting accomplice.
