The Sunshine

NEW DOCS

The only remaining flophouse on the Bowery is shown here in all its glory. Straight-on documentary style yields a non-sentimental portrait of the drinkers, horse-players, and drifters who somehow keep the yuppies from completely transforming a neighborhood rich in history. These characters are unique and appealing and help shape the view of the real bowery. The beautiful cinematography transforms the Sunshine Hotel into a true home, not just a transient residence.
