Drowned Out

NEW DOCS

As the largest hydroelectric project in India proceeds despite widespread opposition, villagers gather at the home of a farmer/healer and his family to protest destruction of ancestral lands by allowing them to be consumed in the damned Narmada River’s rising waters. This film provides a history for both sides of the argument, and investigates the government’s resettlement proposition, but last-minute efforts to stop further construction are tinted with the awareness that many people are preparing to die.  NRF
