The Same River Twice

NEW DOCS

Naked and brimming with possibilities, a band of neo-hippies rafted down the Colorado River a quarter-century ago for a summer of love and rock-climbing. Director Robb Moss captured that experience in his documentary Riverdogs. In The Same River Twice, Moss catches up with the old gang—this time fully clothed and fully immersed in the tribulations of middle age. Marriage, divorce, success, failure, cancer and aerobics—all the hallmarks of life in the mainstream are here. By artfully blending old and current footage to contrast then and now, Moss crafts a wistful celebration of the group’s lost youth, wounded grace and strength to endure.  BW
