Letizia Battaglia is a photographer, deputy council member and grandmother who risked her life to challenge the reign of the Mafia in Sicily during the 1980s and 1990s. At great risk to herself, Battaglia used her camera as a means of chronicling the near-daily murders happening in Palermo.
