Trudell

NEW DOCS

Ten years in the making, this lyrical film chronicles the life of Native American poet/activist John Trudell. Through archival footage, revealing interviews and Trudell’s spoken word artistry, viewers enter into the contemporary history of Native struggle, from the 21-month occupation of Alcatraz Island to the political imprisonment of Leonard Peltier and beyond. His political journey does not go unnoticed by the FBI, whose agents amass a 17,000-page file documenting his activities. Trudell is a story of resistance and poetry and most significantly of the hope that is cultivated where they overlap.  PB
