Set in the auto industry of Detroit, this film tells the story of a group of radical African-American workers who try to build an independent labor organization when they decide that the union leadership has not addressed their specific problems. Finally Got the News follows various members as they march, picket and organize. The film focuses on the role of the African-American worker in the American economy as well as the relation between white and black workers in the labor movement.
