Gray Days

NEW DOCS

Gray Days considers the state of the exploding population of the incarcerated elderly. This intellectually provocative short film follows the stories of two elderly inmates in North Carolina: 81-year-old Lonnie Laney resides at the McCain Correctional Hospital.  Shirley, who is 67 years old, lives at the North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women. Through this lens, the film implicitly raises universal questions about the prison system. A personal perspective humanizes the legal jargon, which obscures the confounding, real experiences of women who may be released from prison in their twilight years. IE
