Uganda Rising
NEW DOCS Thematic Africa Stories Curated by Nancy Buirski
In the aftermath of Idi Amin’s notorious demagoguery, Uganda remains torn by official neglect and a radical resistance, inspired in part, by western Pentecostalism where a mystical figure like Joseph Kony emerges as every bit the rock star that Amin was in his prime. Uganda Rising provides Kony, President Yoweri Museveni, and the Acholi people a well-deserved international stage, but more importantly the film gives voice to the legions of children who are ultimately the country’s real victims.
