Voyage in G Major

NEW DOCS

The filmmaker and his ninety-one-year-old violinist grandfather travel from France to Morocco on a grand voyage that the latter has been dreaming about for decades. The journey becomes an exotic backdrop to insights into the grandfather’s life—his unfulfilled dreams and fulfilled joys—and the relationship between the two men.  Meanwhile, the filmmaker’s grandmother, a complex and feisty woman, waits at home in her comfortable armchair, and describes to us how beautifully her husband once played Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9. This lovingly crafted, intimate film draws us into the tender world of this elderly genteel man as the sound of a G major chord resounds in his brain throughout the journey. DP
