Two Hands

NEW DOCS

Nathaniel Kahn, maker of My Architect, has made a short film with a fascinating subject: pianist Leon Fleisher, known for his decades-long career as a left-hand-only player. Fleisher explains the 1964 incident that led to his right hand’s inability to play piano and is frank about the treatments he’s attempted. The film celebrates his exploration of left-hand piano repertory and his achievements as a conductor and teacher. Historic performance footage and a genuinely loveable main character contribute to the warmth and charm of Kahn’s film. An Academy Award® nominee, the engaging Two Hands rejoices in Fleisher’s career as well as his personal and artistic transformation.  NK
