March Staff Pick | Jay Myself

We’re back with our Monthly Staff Pick, where members of the Full Frame team dive into the archives and select a film to share with you each month. This month’s Staff Pick is Jay Myself (Full Frame 2019) from Programming Coordinator Katelyn Liu.

Katelyn says, “Jay Myself tells the story of Jay Maisel, a prolific photographer who turned a six-story bank in New York City into his home. I remember the first time watching this film and a fascination crept over me; each room explored not just more stuff, but more into the tinkering mind of a peculiarly charming creative. In these pandemic days, when I’m struggling to see beyond what is right in front of me, this film is an inspiration to reimagine the panoramic world differently.”

Jay Myself (Full Frame 2019) | Director: Stephen Wilkes

    Stream: Amazon Prime

The life and art of photographer Jay Maisel radiates from this intimate character piece that follows Maisel as he moves out of his longtime Manhattan studio and home, the graffitied Germania Bank building on the Bowery.
