Reserving Tickets

    Premiere, Signature, and Essential passholders can reserve tickets prior to single ticket sales. Your ticket reservation window is determined by your pass type. 

    Instructions on how to reserve tickets for passholders will be sent out the day before your ticket reservation window opens. The email will include your pass type and detailed instructions on how to reserve tickets in advance. This email will come from tickets@duke.edu. 

    The Opening Night Film and the Awards Barbecue sell out quickly, and individual films may move to “Last Minute Line Only” prior to single tickets going on sale. “Last Minute Line only” means all tickets for a film have been distributed. Once seating for ticket holders has concluded, unclaimed seats are filled from the Last Minute Line. If a passholder is unable to secure a ticket to a film, they may join the Last Minute Line, which is first come, first served, space permitting.

    PASS PICKUP
    Passes and reserved tickets may be picked up during the festival at Festival Headquarters (Durham Convention Center, 301 W. Morgan Street). A photo ID is required to pick up your pass. Passes are assigned to individuals and cannot be shared or transferred. 

    Each pass is limited to one (1) ticket per film or event. You may purchase additional film tickets when single tickets go on sale. Getting tickets to the same film is not guaranteed. Events sell out quickly and many films will be ‘Last Minute Line Only’. 

    LAST MINUTE LINE PASS
    The Last Minute Line Pass provides entry for one (1) person to any film screening via the Last Minute Line (space permitting). Seating is first come, first served and not guaranteed. Last Minute Line Pass buyers cannot reserve tickets to films, and the Last Minute Line Pass does not provide access to the Opening Night Party or Awards Barbecue.  This pass is valid only in the Last Minute Line. Seating is first come, first served, space permitting. 

    BLUE LINE/GREEN LINE
    Each screening venue has three seating lines, a Green Line, a Blue Line, and a Last Minute Line. The Green Line is seated before the Blue Line. Premiere passholders and Green Line single ticketholders queue in the Green Line. Essential and Signature passholders and Blue Line single ticket holders queue in the Blue Line.
