FILMMAKER VS. FILMMAKER: ONLY ONE SHALL SURVIVE

Speakeasy

Now that we have your attention, Full Frame veterans Jameka Autry and Amir Bar-Lev invite you to join them in resisting the documentary “Hunger Games” and cultivating unity and power in our community. Fashioned as more town hall than panel, together we will explore how to support each other in during these changing times in the documentary industry. Please bring your best filmmaking tips to share. There will be prizes.

Panelists: Jameka Autry (Time and Water), Amir Bar-Lev (The Last First: Winter K2)

A MESSAGE FROM THE PANELISTS:

Dear Friends,
We’re looking forward to seeing you this upcoming weekend at Full Frame. On Friday @ 3:30, we’re co-hosting a Speakeasy. It’s a continuation of our knockdown brawl at Full Frame ‘24 about how best to resist the downward pressure on the documentary community. Only, we ‘made up’ immediately, figured out the common ‘enemy,’ and this year we’re going to be on stage together chilling while you all scrap it out.
How is it going to work, you ask?
We’re asking everyone to come in with their single, very best, tippy top, filmmaking tip. These can be about Franken-biting in the edit, negotiating deals, garnering access, soliciting good notes, dodging bad notes, returning production gear to Best Buy, hiding from creditors, it’s your choice. It could even be something you keep saying you’ll do, but haven’t done yet. You will please bring it to the Speakeasy, and write it on an index card we will provide. We will read them aloud. Together, we will all discuss. Then there will be prizes.
Hope to see you there,
Jameka Autry
