3 Days 2 Nights

Invited

Mark and Andy Godfrey are linked by more than blood—the brothers were the only survivors of a Colorado plane crash in 1974, when the aircraft in which they were traveling crashed into the mountains during a family ski trip. At ages 11 and 8, the two lost most of their immediate family. As they approach the 40th anniversary of the accident, they embark on a cleansing, triumphant journey to finally talk fully about their memories, their feelings, and the aftermath of the three days and two nights it took to be rescued. The strength and resilience of these men emanate from an array of heartfelt testimony given by uncles, aunts, family friends, and the rescue pilot, among others. As Mark and Andy reflect on their experience, their bond deepens through conversation. With joyful homespun archival footage and old newspaper headlines, 3 Days 2 Nights impressively balances a contextualizing of the brothers’ past with a focus on the remarkable healing they have achieved. For Mark and Andy, catharsis is greater when undertaken together.  KR
