A Wedding in Ramallah

NEW DOCS

A riveting personal drama of lives lived between the West Bank and Cleveland, Ohio. Bassam, a Palestinian immigrant, journeys home for an arranged marriage to Mariam. Returning to the States, he drives a cab while his bride waits reluctantly with his family in Ramallah for a longed-for US visa. Her fear and anticipation merge with his expectations as she reaches The Promised Land, and must cope with a lonely apartment, strange food and the mysteries of the smoke alarm. The sympathetic struggles of this young couple blend the American dream of success, liberty and personal safety with heartbreaking cultural displacement.  LB
