NEW DOCS

Rich shadows, bright light, and a bit of mystery are at play in director Alejandro Alonso’s artfully crafted and precisely shot short observation. Among the decks and depths of a giant old brig at the edge of a ship scrapyard on the coast of Cuba, Raudel chases a wayward pigeon through pitch-black hallways. As he moves along the hull, he shares a cigarette with his workmate and describes a persistent childhood vision. As he contemplates the meaning of the eerie light he saw, Raudel looks for grounding in the tangible nature of his work. Will he be able to divest himself of the haunting as he perilously scrapes barnacles from the side of the ship, several stories up?  WFM
