For fifteen days each season, photographer Olivier and painter Yves share a tiny lookout cabin in the wilderness between Finland and Russia to observe wolves. They stay quiet, barely speaking above a whisper, and never step outside, to remain invisible and odorless to their animal subjects. The film begins in the winter when the temperature can sink as low as -19°C. They spend their days sitting and staring out at the landscape through a camera lens or capturing moments on a canvas in complete silence. Just when they begin to lose hope after several days without a sighting, a wolf pack emerges. The wonder and excitement of this revitalizes Olivier and Yves, who return year after year to get a glimpse of the same pack. Among the Wolves portrays the ups and downs of this unique journey as well as the indelible bond between man and nature. BD
