Apple Cider Vinegar

Two children in a hazy landscape. One is seated at an easel. One is pushing a broom.

NEW DOCS

A retired nature documentary narrator finds she has one more story to tell. After having a kidney stone removed, she has it analyzed—the stone, it’s revealed, contains a mineral found only in Antarctic seafloor mud. This discovery sparks an exploration of how the mineral could have ended up in her body and the connection between humans and our planet. In this playful essay, which often breaks the fourth wall and blurs lines between narrator, subject, and filmmaker, we see the astonishing affinity between these seemingly disparate elements of our planet. From penguins mating on a rocky shore to a town in volcanic Cape Verde to images from space to the abundance of stones in Palestine, Apple Cider Vinegar marvels at the way the natural world is inextricable from our everyday lives. Guiding us through this voyage is narrator Siân Phillips, who injects equal parts humor and gravitas into the adventure.  BD
