Ask E. Jean

Invited

For decades, E. Jean Carroll forged her own bold paths, writing for, among many others, Esquire, Vanity Fair, and Playboy (where she was the first female contributing editor), matching wits with Hunter S. Thompson and penning his biography, writing briefly for Saturday Night Live, hosting a popular talk show, and publishing several books. Known for her gonzo journalistic style and captivating stories, Carroll was such a compelling force that her muchloved advice column in Elle, “Ask E. Jean,” ran for 26 years; she was terminated after going public with assault allegations against Donald Trump. Director Ivy Meeropol has crafted a fascinating film that precisely matches Carroll’s style—quick-witted, fast-talking, and unabashed. We hear in her own voice—including unforgettable testimony—about the events that surrounded the assault and what transpired after she came forward. And won. WM
