BABYBANGZ
NEW DOCS
At the intersection of self-expression and communal reflection sits BABYBANGZ, a Black hair salon in Mid–City, New Orleans. Proprietor Anastasia Ebel fills a void through her dexterity with the rich and wide–ranging textures of natural hair and provides a safe space for discourse. As Anastasia reflects on her reasons for starting the salon and her own journey toward self-love, her infectious energy and enthusiasm are reflected in her clients’ spirited discussions about their own self-acceptance and the challenges they face in life and within their communities. The film explores how big an impact a small space can have, and the powerful joy that is found when women come together to celebrate their beauty. TS
