Beginning Filmmaking

NEW DOCS

For her fourth birthday, filmmaker Jay Rosenblatt surprises his daughter Ella with a video camera. He is eager to teach her how to come up with a “good idea” and produce her first masterpiece, and she seems ready to learn.  Unfortunately, the task is not so easy for either party, and the film they end up with is very different from the one they set out to make. A portrait of both the struggles of parenting and the struggles of being parented, the film reveals the many complexities of passing down an art form one knows and loves.  ST
