Born in 1906 to a cultured German family, Schonberg resettled in America and became a teacher of some of the greatest American dancers. This film allows one to experience Bessie Schonberg at first hand, teaching and guiding young choreographers, glimpsing the excitement of shaping a new movement, and understanding how space and dancers interact to create an ephemeral but enduring art.
