Black Sun

NEW DOCS

This extraordinary art film combines word, image, and music to portray a life interrupted and renewed. Black Sun begins with artist/filmmaker Hugues de Montalembert’s spoken meditation on the loss of his sight due to a vicious attack in 1978. The narrative ranges from the initial reactions to blindness and the recovery of day-to-day functioning to deeper matters of perception. Impressionistic visuals shot in New York City, Calcutta, and Iceland mesh beautifully with director/composer Gary Tarn’s score.  NK
