DRAGONSLAYER

NEW DOCS

There was a time when Josh “Skreech” Sandoval was a hot California skateboarder with sponsors and cool swag. Now he’s just hanging with his buds, searching for abandoned swimming pools, and hoping for another shot at success. Here we watch Skreech party with friends, throw up, ride his skateboard, and, oh yes, take his baby boy, Sid Rocket, to the zoo, with his new girlfriend. “Random chaos” is how his friend describes him. But behind the scattered hair and tattoos is a young man with a surprisingly gentle spirit who is filled with hope and treats his friends with kindness. The film is an unfiltered look at the California skating scene with graphic language, sexual content, and footage of drug use. Somehow Skreech sticks to his own moral compass. Whether unfolding his son’s stroller or tipping his board over the lip of a pool, this endearing character is unforgettable.  RYS
