Dutch Harbor — Where the Sea Breaks Its Back
NEW DOCS
This film explores the essence of an exotic locale—in this case an icy, remote Alaskan fishing town. Beautifully composed black and white Super 8 visuals, deadpan oral histories, and a contemplative soundtrack all come together to communicate viscerally what life is like on an ice-encrusted lobster boat, or along a frozen coast where the local Inuit language lacks words for most colors. Austere and haunting, Dutch Harbor makes one feel the danger, the cold, and the beauty of its subject—an experience not to be missed.
