NEW DOCS
Undoubtedly, the first weeks of coronavirus lockdown looked exceedingly different from city to city, neighborhood to neighborhood. From several stories up in a new East London high-rise, an intrepid urban anthropologist takes advantage of his sterling view to deftly capture the lockdown’s first two weeks. Attenborough-esque narration punctuates this layered and intimate view of his neighbors’ terraces, living rooms, and bedrooms, and the sometimes desolate park below while doubling down on the ironic and often wry occurrences that this type of close observation yields. As terraces become gyms, offices, playpens, and extended living spaces, they also become inadvertent public displays showcasing moments of homelife that range from the temporal to the titillating.
