Egg Lady

NEW DOCS

Eggs, cups of flour, cups of sugar. This is what it takes to make the June 17 Birthday Cake at a Latvian bakery, which produces 365 tons a year. Aina spends each day breaking and separating 20,000 eggs. The repetitious job allows her time to think—about her first love, her son in jail, the changes in her life. The straightforward documentary style combines with saturated color cinematography to form an honest and charming portrait of an average, hard-working woman.
