NEW DOCS

Ten-year-old Bodhi follows his 14-year-old sister, Lily, as they pick their way across the mountain of used tires behind their parents’ alligator sanctuary in rural Colorado. Rich colors and golden light suffuse this quietly lyrical film, which focuses on the siblings as they navigate life, farm work, and homeschooling. Director Freddie Gluck alternates footage of George the emu, London the calf, and hundreds of alligators, turtles, and fish with the children’s own musings and observations on living such a singular life and what their futures might hold. They speak with profound and remarkably grounded voices on their vast differences, and we believe their deep childhood bond will endure. WM
