George Segal: American Still Life

NEW DOCS

A fascinating and lively portrait of the artist and his times—from his chicken farm childhood, through the free-wheeling ‘60s, to his mature work. The film was made before Segal’s death, is an opportunity to watch him fashioning one of his white plaster casts in a surprisingly messy process. An array of friends, family, critics and artists offer their commentary, juxtaposed against a visual survey of Segal’s oeuvre.
