Gibtown
NEW DOCS
An atmospheric portrait of the residents and community of Gibsonton, Florida, the off-season and retirement home of thousands of carnival and circus show people. Gibtown tells the story of circus people who have created an alternative world, their own community where they can live and simply be ordinary people—despite popular misconception and biases. It is a film that tells also of aging and the twilight of a little-known way of life. With some astonishing archival footage, the film is revelatory, honest, and nostalgic.
