In the Street
Thematic Score! Music and Documentary Curated by D A Pennebaker
The focus of this urban documentary is the children of a neighborhood on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. For them, the street is a playground, battleground, and theater. The film captures the feeling of street energy with a series of gestures: young children parade, wear masks, and fight; old women observe the world from their front stoops, and young girls wait nervously on steps for their dates. Music by Arthur Kleiner. (MoMA Circulating Film Library Catalog)
