Killing in the Name
NEW DOCS
Ashraf and Nadia were married in Amman, Jordan, in November 2005. At the reception, as loved ones toasted their future, an Al Qaeda suicide bomber walked into the hotel and set off an explosion that killed 27 of their friends and three of their parents. Yet Ashraf and Nadia are Muslim. According to the film, during the past five years most people killed in worldwide terrorist attacks have been Muslim. Collateral damage, if you will, according to one Al Qeada recruiter interviewed in the film. But Ashraf argues that there’s no such thing as killing in the name of God. And he’s on a mission to stop it. The film follows Ashraf as he visits a martyr’s family in Jordan and takes an emotional journey to Indonesia to meet a bomber who killed hundreds in Bali’s 2002 terrorist attack. He also visits a school where young Muslim boys are recruited for Jihad. RYS
