Kurt Cobain About A Son

NEW DOCS

Lyrical landscapes of the Pacific Northwest and haunting audio recordings based on previously unheard interviews comprise this highly personal portrait. An intimate and moving meditation on the late musician and artist Kurt Cobain, this film provides insight into his youth, his rise to fame, and ultimately allows the viewer to identify with the banality of a rock star’s pain. The context of his life is artfully layered with first-person stories of family, divorce, and long observational shots of the timber industry, banal strip malls and small town life, along with the transcendence of rock. Ironically, this rock star’s enigmatic resonance had its source in his ability to interpret everyday emotional experiences of contemporary American life.  KH
