La Tierra del Valor (The Home of the Brave)
NEW DOCS
In the summer of 2025, ICE agents conducted sweeping immigration raids across Los Angeles. As migrant communities were pushed into hiding, singer Vanessa Hernandez, professionally known as Nezza, stepped into the light. She receives an invitation to perform the national anthem for a Dodgers baseball game, a huge honor in the career of any emerging artist. Director Cristina Costantini documents the days leading up to Nezza’s decision to sing the anthem in Spanish, honoring a community that had been told, in no uncertain terms, to make itself unseen. Through intimate home footage and with its close access to Nezza herself, the film reveals just how much courage a single act of bravery demands. KL
