Lost Book Found

NEW DOCS

Lost Book Found updates the venerable city symphony, but without the genre’s grandiose claims. Instead, this is more of a chamber piece. Beautifully shot on super 8 film and skillfully transferred to video for postproduction, this starts as a personal documentary but then shifts the narrative voice from the personal to the enigmatic. The enigmas are not cloying, but deep and lasting. Without question, Cohen is a talented avant-garde filmmaker.
