Mighty Times: The Children’s March

NEW DOCS

In May of 1963, the national media circulated brutal images of the violent civil rights struggles taking place in Birmingham, Alabama. To this day, images of firemen and police officers turning their water hoses and attack dogs against protestors remain seared into the national memory. This film focuses on the little-known fact that it was predominantly children who faced down the assault because their parents had more to lose; namely, their livelihood. Great interviews with the participants, some of whom went to jail while in elementary school, send a powerful message to students everywhere that one can—and sometimes must—change history.  LB
