Only The Moon

NEW DOCS

For Felidoro Cueva, only the moon unites his American neighborhood with the one he left in Peru in the 1960s. In words conveyed visually through lovely animation, he recounts to his daughter, the filmmaker, his childhood and his experiences as an immigrant. As he contemplatively speaks of dreams, waning health, and racism, audio of President Donald Trump’s rhetoric on immigration policy profoundly contrasts with the ardent capsule of Felidoro’s time living through the civil rights era and Vietnam War protests. A gifted engineer and longtime resident of the United States, Felidoro offers a layered and honest perspective from an aging Latin American man facing another shift in current U.S. policies. KR
