NEW DOCS
Brooklyn artist Steve Keene knows his genius is in the numbers as he prepares for another day of assembly line painting. He walks the dogs, buys the plywood, cuts out hundreds of identical panels, mounts them on his mega-easel and then it begins. He paints only masterpieces, culled from his pile of clippings. The paint flies nonstop as Keene walks the gauntlet, adding one stroke, the same stroke, to panel after panel. Finally, he is finished, and hundreds of panels dry side by side, all painted upside down. A stylish, breezy look at how one man’s art is another man’s output.
