Prisoners in Paradise

NEW DOCS

During WWII, Italian prisoners of war were brought to the United States from Italy and were placed in POW camps throughout the U.S. This beguiling film tells the little-known story of the lives of these Italian prisoners. They were well cared for, and as the title reflects, prisoners in paradise. During this time they met and formed friendships with American women. When the war was over they returned to Italy. Many married the women they had met as prisoners and returned to live in the United States. Their stories allow glimpses of poignant moments during a devastating time.
