Ray’s Birds

NEW DOCS

Artist, filmmaker, and Full Frame alumna Deborah Stratman (O’er The Land) returns with this kaleidoscopic look at a homegrown English aviary, its marvelous and mysterious flock, and their curious keeper. Shot on 16mm, and making full use of the medium’s palette and texture, Ray’s Birds is a visual and almost tactile keepsake of a visit to the Kielder Water Bird of Prey Centre in Northumberland. Paradoxically enigmatic and accessible, much like Ray Lowden and his menagerie, the short film charms and impresses throughout.  TM
