Still Standing

NEW DOCS

In 2025, the town of Altadena, near Los Angeles, California, was devastated by the Eaton Canyon wildfire, which destroyed nearly 10,000 homes and buildings and contaminated the remaining structures with a toxic residue. Still Standing is a haiku of sorts; it achieves an evocative, profound, and artful gravitas despite its brief duration and spare number of scenes. Camera movement, sound design, unforgettable images, and a tactile sense of ingrained light all contribute to a consideration of what it means to survive one disaster only to face another. TM
